The graphic novel The Life of Sergio follows the the not quite yet emerging artist Sergio through his adventures in the world of art, his love life, and his overall pursuit of a good life. We watch him dealing with the possibility of failure in the quest to achieve his dream, see him in his most private and very public moments, and while we can somewhat understand his point of view, he never seems to grow out of his assholeish behaviour completely.

The story of Sergio is told in single images or image sequences, at times accompanied by punchlines, that form a narrative. From getting to know Sergio, to witnessing his attempts of creating art, growing more and more desperate in the process, the reader grows to sympathise with Sergio, if not identifying with him.

Sergio is a fictive character, yet most of the scenes are based on observations at exhibitions, bars or subways around the world.
The books exhibits cameos of works by the artists Tobias Heine, Lucas Odahara, Lennart Hespenheide, Marijana Radovic, Tim Reinecke, Daniel Rossi, Anna Schilling and Fritz Weber.
